PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
